Description of the Province of Reggio Emilia

- Youth, citizenship, e-participation experiences of Reggio Emilia (just 10 lines): ): with regard to young policies, the Province of Reggio Emilia promoted a lot of projects at local, national and European level thanks to functions and competences of the organisation concerning this field of activity. Between the must significant experiences, we can remark:

• the organisation of the international Youth Camp: exchange of experiences with a lot of European youths, realized since 1999, promoted by local organisations linked together by twinning and friendship relations. During 2008, the year for Intercultural Dialogue, the project will improve the objectives of the European Programme “Youth in action and European Citizenship” , through different workshops and a lot of formal and informal activities and, in particular, with a specific workshop about the use of ICT for the effective communication between/to young people;
• funded by the Programme “Youth in action”, EMANZIPAR project promotes the active European citizenship of young people in rural areas through equal opportunities and the fight against gender violence;
• in addition, there are a lot of initiatives for the improvement of European awareness: the celebration of Europe that, since 2005, has seen the participation of schools and young people and the participation in the Open Days with delegations of students representative of all provincial schools;
• finally, a lot of provincial schools have European relations (more that 120 relations established) and e-Twinning experiences.

- Capacity of diffusion and multiplier effect on information and communication for the young people and youth workers involved: The role of the Province of Reggio Emilia in the management and promotion of young policies, together with schools, municipalities and associations located in the territory, enables a continuous relation with young generations and people interested in their education/training. In addition, between its functions there is the promotion of ICT at provincial level.

At European level, the Province has gained a fundamental role in the representation of local interests, in the diffusion of policies promoted at regional level other that EU policies, thanks to the role of President Sonia Masini within the Committee of the Regions (member and head of the Italian delegation). As a consequence, the multiplier effect and the dissemination of results is warranted.

-  Number of young people involved in the  Project with Reggio Emilia: 100

-  Person in charge with eCLAU project with your Association and CV in 3 lines: Mr. Pietro Gentili: Consultant at the European Policies and International Relationship Department of the Province of Reggio Emilia. Committed  in the management of the European Projects (Main European programmes managed: INTERREG,  Mediterranean, South East Europe, Central Europe, IEE, LIFE+, Lifelong Learning, Youth in action, European Citizenship), Mr. Gentili provides technical assistance in:

• - European and regional funding;
• - development of the European projects
• - management and reports accounting of European projects
• - organisation of meetings and events related to European policies
• - management and relationship with International partners.

-   Number of trainers, facilitators, members of staff: 5 (2 from the European Policies Dep.) and 3 trainers/facilitators.
